Mom's Birthday

Yesterday we all headed up to Caroline's house to celebrate Mom's Birthday. It was fun getting together as we have not done that in a while. The kids had a blast running all over the place. I think Mom liked her gift, a digital picture frame. I loaded a bunch of photos on it for her, and set it up to play as we sang "Happy Birthday".

Preston and Jack are so funny when they are together. Jack is very atheletic and Preston wants to try everything he does. Caroline and Bryan had some really good food. Stacy made a yummy red velvet cake, and I made my dip. Pictures below.

FL Beach Trip

We just got back from our trip to Panama City Beach. It was a lot of fun this year since this is first year Preston was able to enjoy the beach. I was actually able to enjoy the beach this year as well since last year Preston was still pretty small. Morgan, my neice, joined us to meet my parents at the Summerhouse right on the beach. We had a great room overlooking the beach.

Preston played in the waves and chased the birds on the beach. He had a ball and was halarious to watch. He did not want to come out of the water which I thought he would be afraid of. I bought him a little pirate boat to float in over the waves which he looked adorable in. The first day he wouldn't take the swimmies off his arms, but the rest of the trip he did not want them on at all.

I had fun playing card games with Morgan when she was not reading the Twilight series. I cannot believe what a little woman she is becomming. It was great seeing Amber as well. Preston loves her to pieces. I was able to get a lot of really great shots of our little man and luckily Nate was able to get a video of him on the beach in the waves.

Nana's Visit

Nate's mom, whom Preston calls Nana, came to visit us last week. She lives in Missouri so we don't get to see her very much. It was great having her with us for a few days. I know Preston loved having her here as he loves having company. He woke her up jumping on her bed every morning to say hello.

I bought Preston a small pool to play in for the yard, but I didn't realize just how small it was. The pictures of him in it are cute. He takes up more than half the pool. Also, I got him a watergun for our upcoming beach trip. Of course he squirted Nate and I while playing outside. Aunt Holli visited too while Nana was here and she helped Preston get all his toys in the pool as well as being drenched by the watergun. Hopefully Nana will be able to visit again soon. It was great seeing you!

Our old neighbors came to town a few weekends ago. It was great seeing everyone. Ava and Emily are getting so big. Preston had a blast with the girls. Nate and I enjoyed visiting with Mike and Krista. Below are some really cute photos from their visit.

Jack's 3rd Birthday

Saturday was Jack's 3rd birthday party. Caroline planned it at the Fire Station near Curt & Barbara's house. It was a great idea and the kids loved it. Jack was shy for some reason that day. Maybe it was all the attention. Preston on the other hand was a steamroller. He was a wild man from the start.

We started at Curt & Barbara's house for lunch before heading to the fire station. Preston was a little shy at first, but once Jack arrived he was running around the house with all the kids. He is still at the stage where he just picks up anything he sees. Well, he came into the kitchen with a very pretty bowl. I took it from him immediately. When Barbara entered I asked her about the bowl. She explained that it was her mothers. Whew!!! Saved a potential disaster with that one. Then Preston comes in with a whale figure on a pedestal. I noticed a few of these around her newly redecorated living room. I jumped up to get it from him as Barbara was trying herself. Preston held on for life saying "my turn, my turn". While it was very cute that understands turns, I realized that I had to get out of the house before he picks up something else. Luckily my sister finally arrived and we all went outside.

When we arrived at the Fire Station, Preston began acting up in the parking lot. I knew he was just excited, but I had no idea what was in store for me. He wouldn't stand with me and listen to the firemen speak. He wanted to go explore their office, and he did. He passed out the fire hats, pencils, and started on the stickers. I didn't want to have him screaming to the point that we had to leave the party so I let him play, but kept a very close eye on him. Needless to say I didn't hear a word of anything the firemen had to say. Luckily one of them put on his fire gear. That stopped Preston right in his tracks. He wouldn't go near him and wanted to be right by me the rest of the time. Where was he from the start? The Fire Station got an emergency call so we ended the visit with the fire trucks screaming out the parking lot. The kids loved that. Caroline couldn't have planned it better. We were sorry that we missed joining the party at the park. We had friends coming into town so we had to leave early.

Lucky for me it was a peaceful ride home as my little man passed out in the back.

New Bike

We bought Preston a new bike recently. He is so excited about riding a big boy bike. Of course he cannot quite touch the pedals yet, but he tries. Hopefully we can get him riding like a pro by the end of the summer. Check out his new ride!

Our Yardwork

Nate, Preston, and I hit Home Depot a few weeks ago to get mulch and new plants for our yard now that the weather is so nice. We pulled up a lot of plants out of the front beds and cleaned up all the ivy on the side of the house. Preston helped Nate clean out the planter surrounding the mailbox. He was pretty cute digging in the ground and pulling weeds. He didn't like to help for very long.

Preston loves to listen to the crickets at night. He and Nate sit by the window to hear them really well, or are outside to hear them. In doing the yard work Nate was able to pick up a cricket. Preston flipped out and wanted to hold it. Nate put it in Preston's hands, but it jumped onto his shirt and then into the yard. Preston then stalked the cricket down the hill of our front yard into the beds of mulch.

Nate was going to mow the lawn, but our mower was acting up so he put it in the garage to take a look at the problem. Preston wanted to help so badly! Nate put out a bucket for Preston to sit on, and the 2 of them worked on the lawnmower together. There are few pics of Preston on the bucket. That was adorable!!!

Just Catching Up

I was told that I do not update my site enough so I am going to work on that. Hopefully I will be able to get at least 2 good blogs a month. My track record shows otherwise so that is my new goal. All is well with the family here. March seems to be flying by! We have had such a strange array of weather over the past few weeks. It’s either been really, really cold or almost warm enough to put on a swimsuit.

Preston has hit 2 running full steam. He bounces off the walls pretty much 24/7 these days. Luckily with the weather warming up so we are all able to go outside and let him run off that energy. He had his Spring school pictures taken Tuesday, St. Patrick’s Day. I am hoping these will turn out better than the last few pictures. The only photos we can get from him are of him running out of the picture. Not really something you want to send to family and friends to be framed. However, I have been able to get some very cute pictures outside with him this month. The glasses on his face are from his new Mr. Potato Head. He tries to put all the pieces where they belong on his body. I wish I could get a snapshot of him with the pieces in his ears, nose, mouth, and hat on his head, but being Preston he doesn’t sit still long enough for that photo. One day I will get it, but for now I can only give you the visual. It is pretty funny!

You will notice the different weather conditions in the photos. Nate and Preston had a lot of fun sledding down our neighbor’s hill when we had snow hit us earlier this month. Preston tried it only once by himself. I think the hill was too big, and it scared him a little. Being at the bottom of the hill while taking his picture, his face explained it perfectly. We had fun making a snowman and having a snowball fight. Poor Preston was frozen from top to bottom by the time we made it inside. Next year I will hit the shops for better snow gear just in case.

There are a few pictures of Kaylin, my niece. She is the sweetest little baby, and I mean little. She is not even out of her preemie clothes and she wasn’t a preemie! She and Preston are night and day. Preston gained a pound within a week of leaving the hospital and Kaylin is barely 8 pounds. I can’t wait to see if she gets the baby rolls on her arms and legs.

Preston's Birthday Party

I cannot believe my little man is about to be 2 years old. Tuesday 2/17 is his official birthday, but we partied down this past Saturday 2/14. I was so grateful my mother was there. Otherwise, the party may not have happened. I thought for sure that I would have enough time to do everything before the 10am mark when people started arriving. Boy was I mistaken. I woke up and found my mom in the kitchen with the meatballs already cooking, the sweet tea prepared, and her rolling the pigs in the blanket. Couldn't have done it better myself. I asked her what time she woke up and she said 6:15. What possibly possessed her to wake up so early? I'm sure it's the all knowing mom proclamation that knew I didn't stand a chance at getting all this done in the morning. Gotta love Mom!!!

The party was a great success. Preston had a blast with everyone. All the food was allergy friendly so Preston could eat what everyone else is eating. I feel so bad for him at school when the have to keep him separated from the other kids when they are eating something he cannot. He bit into Nate's Temperpedic pillow Sunday morning and we all said "Preston no". To that he exclaimed "It's not cheese"! Well, at least he knows what he is not supposed to eat. The pictures attached are really cute and there are a few of the new baby Kaylin. My brother Billy and sister-in-law Stacy have such a sweet little baby. It makes me want another.

Catching Up

So I finally have time to catch up on my blog. Unfortunately it will be short as this year started off with a bang and has not slowed down. Thanksgiving and Christmas were wonderful! Preston was adorable at both. I have a few pictures attached of the Christmas Holiday. We are waiting on my brother Billy and his wife Stacy's new baby to arrive. She is due tomorrow! Hopefully I will have new pics of her up very soon. Preston's 2-year birthday party is right around the corner (Feb. 17). We are having the party on Valentine's Day at our house. I will definitely have lots of pics to post after.
